Terms

Last updated November 3, 2026

These terms cover your use of Gutlog, run by Meter: the site, the web app, the API, the MCP server, the CLI and our emails. By creating an account or calling the API you agree to them. Gutlog is a working name and the product is in early access.

Not medical advice

  • Gutlog is a diary and an information tool. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any disease, and nothing it shows is medical advice.
  • Nutrients from photos are estimates. Clean-ingredient verdicts come from our own rubric, which labels each flag with how strong the evidence is; some flags are preferences, not settled science. Gut insights such as suspected triggers are hypotheses to test, not findings.
  • See a doctor before changing your diet for a medical reason, and at once for red-flag symptoms: blood in stool, unintended weight loss, fever, anemia, symptoms that wake you at night, new symptoms after age 50, or a family history of colon cancer, celiac disease or inflammatory bowel disease.

Elimination programs

  • Every program starts with a safety screen. If it finds a red flag, it sends you to a doctor first. Restrictive programs are not available during pregnancy, with a history of disordered eating, or under 18.
  • We recommend doing any elimination diet with a registered dietitian. Elimination phases are meant to be short; do not stay on a restricted diet longer than the program says.
  • You are responsible for answering the screen truthfully and for stopping if you feel unwell.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or older. Keep your sign-in and API keys secret; you are responsible for what is done with them.
  • Your data is yours. You give us the permission we need to store and process it to run Gutlog for you, as described in the consumer health data privacy policy. You can export it or delete it at any time.
  • When you connect an AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude or another MCP client), it acts on your instructions with the access you approve. Its provider's terms govern the assistant itself; disconnect it from its settings whenever you want.

Plans and billing

  • Free costs nothing: unlimited logging, lookups and history from your assistant over MCP, the CLI or the API. Photo and text analyses on our model come with Plus.
  • Plus is $8 a month or $60 a year, billed in advance through Stripe, and renews until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. Prices are in USD; taxes may apply.
  • There is no overage: past a daily allowance, analyses wait for the next UTC day. We will tell you before any price change applies to you.
  • An assistant can give you a checkout link, but only you can pay; we never charge a card without your action or approval.

Acceptable use

  • Do not break the law, attack or overload the service, or try to reach other people's data.
  • Do not scrape the service or resell access to it. The public product index and pages may be used under the licenses stated on them.
  • Do not submit product labels you know to be false.

Food data

Nutrient data comes from USDA FoodData Central (public domain), Open Food Facts (Open Database License; data derived from it in our product index stays under that license) and labels people submit. Organic advice uses the Environmental Working Group's current Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen lists, cited with their year. Our clean-ingredient rubric is our own and is not affiliated with any other company's label or program.

Warranty and liability

Gutlog is provided as is during early access, without warranties of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent the law allows. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, with notice where possible, and you can export your data first unless the law forbids it.

Changes and contact

We will email account holders before a material change takes effect. Questions: jonathan@getgutlog.com.
